5.3 quake shakes Mexico

A 5.3 magnitude earthquake rumbled Friday about 100 miles south of Mexico City, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. The earthquake was recorded at about 6:30 p.m. ET.

Last May, a 6.4 magnitude earthquake shook southern Mexico’s Guerrero state about 172 miles southwest of Mexico City, the USGS said. No immediate reports of damage were made.
