DUBOIS – Students from DuBois Business College (DBC) visited PennDOT, Clearfield, recently to learn more about this state agency, the ways PennDOT supports the local community and how the programs the DBC offers can be applied to a possible career as a public servant with a government agency.

PennDOT is a state agency with a purpose to oversee the construction and maintenance of all roads in the state of Pennsylvania.

The tour started with the surveying section, where plans for new roads, as well as existing roads, are surveyed out, marked and plans drawn for the construction and restructuring of the road network.

From there, students were taken to the computer training room, where they received information concerning the network infrastructure and programs needed to help PennDOT in the completion of their tasks.

Students then went to the Traffic Management section, where they saw first-hand how PennDOT personnel keeps track of traffic on the vast expanse of roads, and how they keep track of all the equipment on the road at any given time.

The tour concluded with a stop at the server room, where students saw how information and data is transmitted and stored.

DBC students saw first-hand how the skills they are learning in the classroom can be applied to a possible job or position once they graduate from the DBC.

The DBC is in the business of providing a quality, business-oriented education to people in the local community. The DBC is celebrating its 130th year of service to the local community, and is one of the oldest continuing private business colleges in the United States.
