STATE COLLEGE – A roadway improvement project will re-start Monday along Atherton Street (Route 3014) in State College.
Through September, area drivers can expect to find lane closures and slowed traffic during work hours. Traffic volumes through this area are heavy and drivers should anticipate travel delays. Once work is complete, travel along this section of Atherton Street should be smoother and more efficient.
On Monday, gas line relocation work will begin. On April 1, crews will begin work on drainage updates. The work zone this year will stretch from Colonnade Way to Aaron Drive. All work is weather and schedule dependent.
Work this year will include utility relocation, drainage upgrades, roadway reconstruction, pavement markings, and miscellaneous items. Traffic at intersections may be controlled by flaggers during work activity.
Traffic controls will be lifted for all holidays, Penn State graduation, and Penn State moving days. Work will be halted prior to Penn State home football games.
PennDOT will issue project updates as necessary through the 2015 construction season. Night work is anticipated to begin in August and PennDOT will issue a project update prior to that change.
Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $4.4 million project. PennDOT reminds motorists to drive with caution through work zones, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.
