State police at Clearfield
- On Sunday, a known person was allegedly found to be in possession of a small amount of suspected marijuana in the visitor’s parking lot at the State Correctional Institution at Houtzdale. The incident remains under investigation with charges pending at this time, state police said.
- An incident of DUI occurred Saturday on Blue Spruce Drive in Decatur Township. Further, a known individual was allegedly stopped for traffic violations and found to be under the influence of alcohol. The incident remains under investigation with charges pending at this time, state police said.
State police at DuBois
- On Wednesday, state police were investigating a disturbance on Route 219 in Snyder Township. Upon investigation a 26-year-old Brockport woman was allegedly found in possession of various items of drug paraphernalia. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Jefferson County Jail.
- An accident occurred Friday on Wayne Road in Winslow Township. William B. Ford of Reynoldsville was traveling north and attempting to negotiate a right-hand curve. His vehicle encountered icy roadway conditions, causing him to lose control and his vehicle to spin clockwise. His vehicle then exited the west berm and impacted several mailboxes before coming to a final rest along Wayne Road. The Ford vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported as a result of the accident, state police said.
- An incident of theft occurred Feb. 23 on Gearhart Lane in Polk Township. During the incident, a 35-year-old Lynchburg, Va. man allegedly took the victim’s credit card and made four purchases for Tracfone minutes, totaling $628.62. The incident remains under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at DuBois at 814-371-4652.
- An accident involving a buggy occurred Sunday on Route 830 in Washington Township. A buggy driven by Jacob J. Shetler of Brockway was traveling east along the right-hand shoulder when it was rear-ended by a Ford pick-up truck driven by Brandon J. Stokes of Saegertown. State police said Stokes was traveling east and reached down for a can of soda that had fallen onto the floor. When Stokes looked up, he realized the buggy was in front of him. No injuries were reported; however, the horse pulling the buggy sustained a minor injury to its left, rear foot. Stokes was cited for the accident.
- An accident occurred Saturday on Shamokin Highway in Brady Township. Further, a Rockton juvenile was traveling east while a vehicle operated by Mary F. Frantz of DuBois was following him. The juvenile applied his brakes for a deer that was on the side of the roadway. Frantz was following too closely and failed to slow down, rear-ending the juvenile’s vehicle. Both vehicles were subsequently moved off of the roadway. The Frantz vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene; the juvenile’s vehicle sustained rear damage but was driven from the scene. No injuries were reported; Frantz was cited for the accident, state police said.
- An incident of theft occurred March 4 on Lee Road in Union Township. During the incident, someone allegedly deceived the victim by attempting to sell a vehicle via Amazon.com. The victim allegedly sent the suspect $2,500 on pre-paid cards but didn’t receive the vehicle. The incident remains under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at DuBois at 814-371-4652.
State police at Philipsburg
- An incident of theft occurred sometime between Feb. 17 and Feb. 28 on Dogwood Drive in Rush Township. Further, the victim told police that she was missing some money. The incident remains under investigation at this time, state police said.
- An accident occurred Saturday on Black Moshannon Road in Rush Township. Jennifer M. Litz of Philipsburg was traveling east and starting to negotiate a right-hand turn near the top of the hill. At that point, her vehicle traveled across the left lane and off of the side of the roadway. It continued traveling in the snow before overturning onto its driver’s side and then roof, where it came to a final resting position. Litz was wearing her seatbelt and sustained minor injuries; she was cited for the accident, state police said.
Clearfield Borough
- Police arrested a female for driving under the influence of alcohol after being called to Front and East Walnut streets for a report about a vehicle stuck in a snow bank. Upon arrival police found the operator of the operator was under the influence of alcohol.
- Police received a call about a vehicle that was parked along Merrill Street at the old school building. Police made contact with the owner of the vehicle and advised them of the complaint.
- Police responded to an alarm at a local bank. Upon arrival police found someone was working on the alarm.
- Police were called to a vacant apartment along Spruce Street, where there was a vehicle parked outside. Upon arrival police located an individual who had permission to be at the apartment.
- Police responded to Nichols Street for an alleged theft incident. Further, police were told that cash was removed from a residence without permission from the owner. Police are currently investigating the incident.
- Police assisted Curwensville Borough police with an incident at the hospital, where they had someone on a DUI charge.
- Police arrested a male along South Third Street on an active arrest warrant after he was seen walking in the area. The male was transported to the Clearfield County Jail on the warrant, police said.
- Police responded to South Fourth Street to assist the fire department with an incident.
- Police received a report about a hit-and-run accident that occurred on Martin Street. Further, a vehicle was being operated down Martin Street when another traveling in the opposite direction clipped its mirror. The suspect vehicle then continued up Martin Street, police said.
- Police received a report about someone being followed. Upon arrival to the area, police were unable to locate anyone.
- Police were called to an alleged domestic situation on Turnpike Avenue. Further, police were advised a male and female could be heard yelling from an apartment. Upon arrival police made contact with a male who had allegedly cut himself on broken glass. Emergency personnel transported the male for treatment.
- Police stopped the operator of a vehicle along Nichols Street for several traffic violations. Police found the driver of the vehicle to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was subsequently arrested for DUI, police said.
Lawrence Township
- Police received a report about a disabled tractor-trailer along the Clearfield – Shawville Highway.
- Police received a report about another disabled tractor-trailer along the Clearfield – Shawville Highway.
- Police received a report about two alleged retail thefts at the Wal-Mart Supercenter.
- Police received a report about an accident at the intersection of South Second Street and the Clearfield – Curwensville Highway. No injuries were reported and both vehicles were towed from the scene, police said.
- Police served several warrants on individuals. One individual was placed in jail, police said.
- Police received a traffic complaint that occurred from Route 322 onto Turnpike Avenue.
- Police responded to an alarm on Sals Lane.
- Police assisted with a medical emergency on Robinson Avenue.
- Police served a 302 warrant on a Clearfield male who was threatening harm to himself. He was transported to the hospital.
- Police received a report about two males who were allegedly prowling around a Golden Rod residence. The males fled prior to police arrival at the scene.
- Police received a report about a vehicle that had struck a deer near Interstate 80.
- Police received a report about a two-vehicle accident on South Second Street.
- Police were requested to check the welfare of someone on Weaver Street.
- Police received a report to check the welfare of someone at the Economy Inn.
- Police received a traffic complaint.
- Police received a parking complaint.
- Police received a report about an alarm at a residence near Hyde. Upon arrival police found everything to be OK.
- Police received a report about a suspicious vehicle.
- Police assisted Clearfield Borough police with an incident.
Decatur Township
- Police received information about a two-vehicle, non-reportable accident at a Decatur Township business. No injuries were reported and both vehicles were driven from the scene, police said.
- Police received a report about a known Houtzdale woman who is allegedly unauthorized to use a personal dumpster. The incident remains under investigation at this time, police said.
- Police received a report about a two-vehicle accident in the area of Irwin Drive in Decatur Township. No injuries were reported and both vehicles were driven from the scene, police said.
- Police received a report about the alleged theft of money from a local business. The incident remains under investigation at this time, police said.
- Police received a report about an alleged domestic dispute between a husband and wife in Decatur Township. Upon arrival police found the male had left, and there wasn’t any need for further action by police.
DuBois City
- On Friday, a Toyota Avalon was struck by a vehicle while it was parked on Hospital Avenue. A witness observed the incident and obtained a registration number for the suspect vehicle, which had left the scene. The incident remains under investigation at this time, police said.
- Police received a report about an alleged disturbance that occurred between two male tenants of an apartment building Friday in the 800 block of DuBois Street. They were allegedly arguing over a hamburger, which had burned. Police handled the incident at the scene.
- On Saturday, a 41-year-old Brockway woman was stopped on Delaware Street for allegedly operating her vehicle in a careless manner. During the course of the traffic stop, police allegedly found she was under the influence of alcohol, and she was taken into custody. Charges are currently pending toxicology results, police said.
- Police received a report about an alleged domestic disturbance Saturday in the 100 block of East Long Avenue. Upon arrival police found it involved a man and his 14-year-old son. The son, police said, had “assaultive behavior” and his father believed he needed an evaluation. Police assisted at the scene.
- Police received a report about a two-vehicle accident that occurred Saturday at the intersection of South Jared Street and West Washington Avenue. Further, a Ford Taurus was struck by a Subaru Forester when its operator ran a stop sign. No injuries were reported, and the Subaru was towed from the scene, police said.
Sandy Township
- A 16-year-old DuBois boy lost control of his vehicle Friday on West Long Avenue, causing it to slide and end up in an embankment. The vehicle behind him, which was being driven by a 24-year-old DuBois woman, was unable to stop due to icy roads and slid into his vehicle. No injuries were reported and one of the vehicles was towed from the scene, police said.
- A 20-year-old DuBois woman lost control of her vehicle while traveling on Maple Avenue and hit a pole on Friday. No injuries were reported, and the vehicle was towed from the scene, police said.
- Police received a report Friday that there was a vehicle that had slid off the roadway and become stuck in a snow bank on South Main Street. The driver had left the scene and the vehicle caused a traffic hazard. The vehicle was towed from the scene and citations were issued to the driver, police said.
- Wal-Mart employees reported an alleged theft totaling $367.55 and another totaling $212.95. The suspects in both incidents were on tape but left prior to being caught; the incident remains under investigation at this time, police said.
- On Saturday, a 19-year-old Treasure Lake man was traveling too fast; his vehicle subsequently slid off the roadway and over a guiderail. It came to to rest down an embankment with the driver’s side against a tree. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was towed from the scene, police said.
- On Sunday, Wal-Mart employees reported there was a man wearing jeans and a red-checkered shirt who had allegedly been walking around the store putting items in a shoe box. Employees said they stopped him and advised him to stop. Employees said the man later attempted to check out with a lighter and butane, which he had opened while in line and attempted to fill the lighter. When asked to stop by employees, police said the man became belligerent and threw the lighter at them before leaving the store. The incident remains under investigation at this time, police said.
