DuBois Students Attend College Fair

DUBOIS – Teachers Kyle Gordon and Rosary Pennington recently took 35 DuBois Area High School students to the National College Fair at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh.

More than 300 post-secondary schools were represented at the fair from across the country, including from Hawaii Pacific University to Rutgers.

Participating students registered ahead of the fair and were given a printable bar code.  As they spoke with specific colleges, the representatives would then scan their bar code to obtain their contact information.

This drastically cuts back the time that it takes for students to complete information cards for each university.  While there, Gordon and Pennington gathered informational material, so that it could be displayed in the Career Center as a resource for students.

“This was one of the top trips that I had been on,” said Gordon. “I love the exposure that students get from this experience.  It’s a real eye-opener for students because they realize the amount of opportunities that are out there.”

“It was a spectacular event that gave everyone an eye-opening experience into post high school education.  Even as a freshman, it was a good way to get the ball rolling,” said Seth Braid.
