BELLEFONTE — The first quarter was decisive as Bellefonte defeated Clearfield 33-26 in Mountain League schoolgirl basketball action Thursday night.
The Lady Bison couldn’t completely recover after falling behind 14-2 at the first rest stop.
They did outscore the Lady Raiders 16-11 in the middle two periods and played them on even terms in the final eight minutes but never got closer than six points.
Emily Aveni and Ally Lindstrom had six points apiece for the Lady Bison, who finished without a road victory in the league and were 3-11 for the year.
Bellefonte (7-13, 6-8 ML) got 11 points from Jess Book and 10 from Mara Tamminga in avenging a 49-47 double overtime loss at Clearfield on Dec. 16.
Clearfield (4-17) concludes the season with a non-league game in Curwensville’s Patton Hall Friday.
The Lady Bison jayvees were handed a 28-23 setback. They were led by Brooke Cline’s eight points.
