Lady Tide Win Third Straight, Topple Kane, 55-35

CURWENSVILLE – A strong showing on both ends of the floor paved the way for the Curwensville girls basketball team to pick up a win over Kane, 55-35, Friday night on the Lady Tide’s own hardwood.

The Lady Wolves defeated the Lady Tide earlier this season in Kane, 51-46.

Curwensville set the pace in the first eight minutes of action, outscoring the Lady Wolves 14-5, which ended up leading to a big bulge at the intermission, 32-16, in favor of the Lady Tide.

The Tide increased the lead to 44-21 after three periods, sending the Curwensville ladies to their 13th win of the season against six losses.

Curwensville has now won three straight games and four of their last five.

Two Lady Tide players scored twenty points or better in the victory as senior Ciara Strickland led all scores with 22 points and sophomore teammate Hannah Dixon added 20.

Christine Limbert, another Curwensville sophomore, pulled down 12 rebounds while scoring nine tallies.

In an all-around “team” game, Heather Thorp had nine assists for Curwensville, while Dixon added five and Strickland four as the Lady Tide looked for each other throughout the contest.

Taylor Morgan, a senior for Kane, paced the Lady Wolves with 11 points.

Lady Tide head coach Rusty McCracken liked what he saw in the Curwensville victory, saying afterwards, “It was a fun game to watch. Everything we were doing just seemed to work tonight. We were in tune with each other out there.”

In the evening’s first contest, the Kane jayvees beat Curwensville by a score of 33-16. High scorer for the Lady Tide was Nichole Wormuth with eight points.

The Lady Tide are on the road Monday, traveling to Westover, to meet up with the Lady Owls of Harmony. Curwensville knocked off the Lady Owls in January, 47-38, on the Tide’s home floor. Junior varsity action tips-off at 6 pm with the varsity to immediately follow.
