SPRING MILLS – On a cold, long road trip to Penns Valley Area High School Wednesday night, the Clearfield girls basketball team didn’t find it much warmer, offensively anyway, inside the Lady Rams gymnasium, especially in the second half.
The Lady Rams beat Clearfield in all four quarters to pick up the Mountain League win, 45-25.
Penns Valley stayed in first place in the Mountain League at 9-1 while the Lady Bison fell to 3-5 in league action.
The Lady Bison actually were in the contest at the half, trailing their hosts just 25-18.
Scoring just seven points after the intermission didn’t, however, help the Clearfield cause.
The Lady Rams utilized a 17-5 third period bulge to put the game away to deal Clearfield its third straight loss.
Rachel Glenny had eight points for Clearfield while the Lady Rams were led by Mackenzie Ironside with 18 and Maci Ilgen adding 10.
The junior varsity battle also went to Penns Valley in the evening’s tip-off of action, beating Clearfield in a hard fought contest, 28-27. Ally Lindstrom led Clearfield with nine points.
Clearfield (4-11) entertains Tyrone on Friday night in another Mountain League contest. The JV game begins at 6 pm with the varsity to immediately follow.
Back in December Tyrone defeated the Lady Bison the first time around on the Lady Golden Eagles’ home floor, 73-45.
