Tyrone — The Clearfield Bison wrestling team braved the wintry conditions Tuesday night as they traveled to Tyrone to take on the host Golden Eagles in Mountain League action.
The Bison raised their record to 6-8, and 3-3 in the league, with a convincing 54-21 win.
Clearfield raced out to a 35-0 lead just before the halfway point of the dual.
Josiah McClarren (18-11), Logan Gilbert (17-10), and Noah Cline (23-5) each recorded falls, while Luke McGonigal (17-10) had a 15-0 technical fall, and Hunter Blake and Jaret McCracken each hand their hands raised via forfeit to score the first 35 points of the match.
Tyrone temporarily stopped the onslaught with a win and a fall at 160 and 170 respectively.
Moving up in weight class to 182 from his normal 170, Levi Wiser picked up a regular decision.
At 195 Travis Ogden picked up another fall, and his 22nd win of the year against a trio of losses.
Tyrone managed a fall and a forfeit over the final four weight classes, while Nate Lash (14-11) at 285 added Clearfield’s fifth fall of the night and Chance Timko earned a major decision at 113 in the match’s final bout.
The Bison get a few days off to prepare for the District 9 AAA Team Wrestling Championship on Saturday at DuBois Area High School where they will face St. Marys at 1:00.
