DuBois Chamber Hosts Business Bash

DUBOIS – Business Bash, hosted Saturday by the Dubois Chamber of Commerce at the Lakeview Lodge in Treasure Lake, afforded area business owners and representatives an opportunity to network and then to honor the 2014 award recipients for Small Business of the Year, Community Cup and  Distinguished Service Lifetime Achievement.

Josh Benton of Buck’s Pizza opened the awards portion of the evening by explaining the criteria for nominees of the Business of the Year Award.  As last year’s recipient, Buck’s Pizza honored Shannon’s Catering, a local business that has been catering a variety of events in the local area for 29 years.

Jo Varacallo presented the award for Community Cup on behalf of Coldwell Banker Developac Realty as last year’s award winner.  The award was presented to Gasbarre Products, which was cited among other things for its history of involvement with the Jaycees, Rotary International and providing scholarship funds for college students.

The Distinguished Service Lifetime Achievement Award was the final award of the evening, with criteria of outstanding community service, success in a chosen vocation and service to God and Church as distinguished by the DuBois Area Jaycees.

Vice President of the Jaycees Dr. Christopher Shaw presented this award to an astonished and honored Dr. Marianne Konior, who was surprised to find a large portion of her family in attendance to witness her award.

In addition to the awards portion of the evening, hors d’oeuvres, raffles, an auction with Carol Foltz serving as auctioneer and an assortment of dessert items were featured at the Business Bash.

Penn State DuBois Lion Ambassadors were present as volunteers.
