The fuselage of AirAsia Flight QZ8501 has been located underwater 17 days after it went down in the Java Sea, Bambang Soelistyo, the head of Indonesia’s search and rescue agency, said Wednesday.
The discovery of the plane’s main body, with one of its wings attached, was confirmed by a camera from a remotely operated underwater vehicle, Soelistyo said.
The plane crashed December 28 as it flew toward Singapore from the Indonesian city of Surabaya with 162 people on board.
