DUBOIS – The DuBois Central Catholic (DCC) boys basketball team entertained visiting Curwensville Friday night and came away with a 63-38 win over the Golden Tide in the first game of the new year for both squads.
The Cardinals won every period over the Golden Tide and after a 12 point halftime lead, DuBois Central Catholic outscored Curwensville 35-22 over the final 16 minutes to put their visitors away.
Junior R. J. Olson paced the Tide with 12 points while Dana Aucker with 22 and Christian LaParne chipping in15 led the Cardinals attack.
Both teams shot well from the free throw line as Curwensville connected on 13 of 18 and DuBois Central Catholic was eight of 11.
The defeat leaves Curwensville with a record of 2-6, while the Cardinals run their record to 7-2.
DCC also won the junior varsity game, 44-38, over Curwensville. Quamone Newkirk lead the Golden Tide with 13 tallies.
The Golden Tide will be home on Tuesday night when they play the Rams of Johnsonburg at Patton Hall. The junior varsity tips off at 6 pm with the varsity clash to immediately follow.
