Department of State Announces Campaign Finance Information Available on Mobile App

HARRISBURG – Secretary of the Commonwealth Carol Aichele has announced the Corbett Administration is for the first time making campaign finance information filed by candidates for state office and political action committees involved in state campaigns available to the public on a mobile app.

“People are increasingly getting information on mobile devices, and this app will now allow Pennsylvanians to find out on their mobile devices how much money political campaigns are raising and spending,” Aichele said.  “I believe government needs to be as open and transparent as possible, and provide government data in the same way citizens are getting other important information.”

Earlier this year, at Gov. Tom Corbett’s direction, the Department of State revamped the campaign finance search engine on its website, making it much easier for the public to get information from this site.

The Pennsylvania Campaign Finance Mobile App is available in both the Apple iTunes Store and Google Play Store by searching for the Pennsylvania CFS or Campaign Finance.

The Pennsylvania campaign finance mobile app will provide an overview of a committee’s activity in a reporting period.  This includes the total amount of money received, total amount of money spent, and remaining balance or cash on hand.

The mobile app at this time does not provide information on individual contributors to a committee, or individual expenditures made by a committee.  This information is available, as before, at the Department of State Web site, www.dos.state.pa.us, then by clicking on “Campaign Finance Report Search”, under most frequently requested services.
