CLEARFIELD – America’s Motorsports Park was rained out Saturday night, and next on tap is the Fourth Annual Connor Bobik Memorial this weekend.
Connor Bobik was just four years old when he was diagnosed with brain cancer, he died shortly after his fifth birthday. This year is the Fourth Annual Memorial Race in his honor, started by his parents, Derek and Diane Bobik of St. Mary’s. The first two races were held at Dog Hollow Speedway before it closed unexpectedly last season. The race then moved to AMP and will be run there again this season on July 27.
The Fourth Annual event will see duel sponsorship from Srock Contracting and Randy Sterling Trucking. The race pays $3,000 to win and $300 to start. The Laurel Highland Sprints are also on the schedule paying $500 to win and $200 to start along with double points for the series.
A huge crazy auction will also be held, with all sorts of items, including racing memorabilia, race tickets, baskets and more. The proceeds from the auction go to the Make-a-wish foundation in Connor’s name. So far the Bobiks have raised $10,000 in three years.
The prelude to the Bobik Memorial will be held Saturday night, July 26 and the Late Model will pay $1000 to win and $150 to start. The winner Saturday night will get a guaranteed starting spot in the memorial on Sunday, IF they are unable to qualify.
A complete payout for both nights and more details are on the speedway website at www.americasmotorsportspark.com
