It was set to be a shootout at the Texas Motor Speedway, but unfortunately a little twist in the Texas weather has made that a bit of a problem.
After a great couple of days of action in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Mother Nature hit the area at the track and the surrounding spots, and poured buckets of rain on the speedway. A break in the weather allowed the jet dryers, the Air Titan and the newly introduced Air Titan 2.0 to hit the track and start the drying efforts to possibly make it a late afternoon race or possibly be run under the lights.
At 7 p.m. the track drying efforts were continuing but even with a window of opportunity to dry the track and possibly race, NASCAR wanted to get a full race in rather than just go to halfway, risking the chance that more rain could end the race before the full distance. Finally, shortly after that update, NASCAR made the call.
For the first time this season, a race will be pushed to the next day.
The Duck Commander 500 will now go green at Texas at Noon. Pre-race broadcast will be a half hour prior. All coverage will be on Fox Sports 1. Check your cable or satellite provider for channel listings if you want to catch the action.
