Man Jailed for Alleged Threats, Firing Shots

HALFMOON TOWNSHIP – A 30-year-old Port Matilda man, Luke D. Hoff, was jailed Saturday after he allegedly threatened to shoot a male and fired shots in the area of the victim’s residence on Houtz Lane in Halfmoon Township, reported the state police at Philipsburg.

Hoff arrived at the rear of the victim’s residence. He had communicated with the male victim via text messages earlier in the day. Hoff had allegedly threatened to shoot the male victim before his arrival, according to state police.

Upon arrival Hoff allegedly fired numerous shots into the ground in the area of the residence. No projectiles struck the residence; no one was injured as a result of the alleged incident, state police said.

Hoff was apprehended at the rear of the residence and taken into custody. He was subsequently charged with terroristic threats, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct.

Hoff was lodged in the Centre County Prison and arraigned with bail being set at $10,000 straight. His preliminary hearing has been set for March 26, according to state police.
