CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Commissioners voted, 3-0, yesterday to not count one absentee ballot, which faced two challenges.
Both Marjorie Moore and Mariel Kephart challenged Stacy Warrick-Williams’ right to vote by absentee ballot during the Nov. 5 Municipal Election. Their challenge was two-fold, reported Dawn Graham, election director.
According to Graham, Moore and Kephart challenged on the grounds that Warrick-Williams was within the municipality of her residence on the day of the election while the polls were open. They also challenged on the grounds that Warrick-Williams was able to appear personally at her polling place on the day of the election while the polls were open.
Commissioner Joan Robinson-McMillen, chair, asked Warrick-Williams if she planned to dispute the challenge and proceed with a hearing. Warrick-Williams said she did not, verifying she understood her absentee ballot would not be counted.
Commissioner John A. Sobel suggested the commissioners validate the matter by voting to not count Warrick-Williams’ absentee ballot, which they did. Robinson-McMillen said this wouldn’t impact any races, as Warrick-Williams’ absentee ballot hadn’t been counted due to the challenges.
