CLARION’S DEFENSE NAMED EXPLORE YOUR TOWN D9SPORTS.COM PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR WEEK NINE OF THE 2013 SEASON

15 Players named to District 9 Honor Roll

CLARION – In a D9Sports.com first, the entire Clarion defense is the Explore Your Town D9Sports.com District 9 Player of the Week for Week Nine of the 2013 season.

The Bobcats defense has, too put it mildly, been an immoveable object for almost the entire year recording seven shutouts in nine games including in each of the last six weeks while allowing a total of 26 points all season.

In a 55-0 win over A-C Valley Friday night, the defense, which was led by 16 tackles including a ½ sacks from Destin Strauser, 13 tackles from Tyler Allen and 10 from Damien Slike, who also recovered a fumble, forced three A-C Valley turnovers and held the Falcons to 123 total yards of offense. The 48 shutout minutes ran Clarion’s shutout streak to 288 minutes and 15 seconds, while the seven shutouts this year are a school record and the second most in District 9 during the District 9 playoff-era (1987-present).

Fifteen players are also being honored this week on the Explore Your Town D9Sports.com Honor Roll.
