Lane closure to shift next week
STATE COLLEGE – Work to improve a section of Interstate 80 in Centre County is progressing, with guiderail and shoulder work progressing as crews prepare for micro-surfacing work in September.
On Monday, the lane closures on the eastbound and westbound lanes will shift to the right (travel) lanes. Traffic will utilize the left (passing) lanes in the work zone. The overall project will extend the life of the pavement and provide updated guide rail along both directions of the highway.
These lanes will be closed for approximately two to three weeks as work progresses.
The work zone will include the section between mile-marker 170 and mile-marker 164 in both directions. In addition to the left lane closures, drivers will encounter a reduced speed limit of 45 miles per hour through the work zone.
PennDOT expects all work to be finished by mid-October. Suit-Kote Corp. of Tully, N.Y., is the contractor on this $1.6 million job.
Drivers are reminded to move through construction zones with caution, obey posted speed limits and always buckle up.
