Stump Creek Bridge Replacement in Clearfield County begins July 26

Detour will be in place

CLEARFIELD – On behalf of Gov. Tom Corbett, PennDOT has announced that work to replace the Stump Creek Bridge on Route 4003 (Mine Road) near Helvetia in Brady Township will get under way Friday.

Replacing the box culvert of the bridge will extend its service life for years to come and provide area drivers with safer, more efficient travel.

The bridge spans Stump Creek on Route 4003, near the village of Stanley. The bridge was built in 1923, is 17 feet long and carries an average of nearly 200 vehicles each day.

PennDOT’s official detour will direct traffic to use Routes 410, 219 and 4004. Local drivers may choose to use alternate routes to get around the road closure.

Work is scheduled to last until late August. Crews from PennDOT Clearfield County Maintenance will perform the repairs. Work is weather and schedule dependent. Drivers are reminded to obey posted speed limits, follow detour signs, and as always, buckle up.
