HOFFNER FIRST TO REPEAT IN LATE MODELS AT AMP

CLEARFIELD, PA – Harter and Sons Garage and Railroad Street Tavern sponsored Saturday night’s racing action at America’s Motorsports Park in Clearfield with Luke Hoffner of Turbotville becoming the first driver to repeat in the Randy Sterling Trucking Late Models. Cody Hummel of Morrisdale was the only other repeat winner as he copped the Quigley’s Pub Pure Stock main.

New winners included: Dylan Fenton of Clearfield in the Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub Semi Lates, Brent Lee of Fairmont City in the Harter and Son’s Garage Street Stocks and Eric Boozle of Mount Union in the Clearfield County Metals Four Cylinders.

The Late Models hit the track as Luke Hoffner and fellow front row starter Bill Davis led the field to the start, and as the green waved they were side-by-side into the first and second turns. As they sat through a number of cautions the race finally got to go green with Hoffner taking the lead and setting the pace. The majority of the race it was all Hoffner, as he worked through lapped traffic and held Davis at bay. As the race came to a conclusion it was Hoffner taking his second win of the season ahead of Davis, Dan Gill, Scott Alvetro and Duane Stiner. Hoffner and Davis split the heat wins.

The Street Stocks once again produced an exciting feature with Paul Blake and Dan Smeal leading the field to the start and Blake taking the lead, as the caution flew for a spinning Smeal. The restart saw Blake maintain the lead with Tim Fannin in second. They were setting the pace with Chad Rougeux and Jamie Price joining the fight. On lap nine Blake and Fannin crashed on the backstretch, eliminating Blake and putting Fannin to the rear. On the restart Price had the lead with Joe Jordan in second, but before they exited the second turn, Brent Lee went from third, making it three wide off the second turn and taking the lead. While he may have gone the rest of the distance in the lead, he was far from running away, and the top nine were under the proverbial blanket the rest of the way. Lee couldn’t breath easily as he held off everything that was thrown at him as he went on to grab his first win at AMP. Price won the fight for second ahead of Rougeux, Doug Tibbens and Smeal. Price and Matt Hugill split heat wins.

Another low turn out in the Pure Stocks still produced an awesome race, as Cody Hummel and newcomer Mike Duck led the field to the start, with Hummel taking the lead and holding Duck at bay for the first seven laps, but then Hummel went high in turn two, which opened the door for Duck, who took advantage of the miscue, but Hummel wasn’t giving up easily, as he battled back and stayed on Duck the rest of the way, then Hummel dove into turns three and four on the outside of Duck and he was able to come out with the lead and held on for his second win. Duck, Jim Challingsworth, George Bailey and Ben Krause completed the top five. The heats went to Hummel and Duck.

Jesse Short and Eric Luzier brought the Four Cylinders to the green with Short taking the lead with Eric Boozel coming from sixth to second in a few turns. The leaders were duking it out and with Short setting the pace and Boozel in second, then on lap five Boozel took the lead and held off all of Short’s attempts to get his first win of the season at AMP. Boozel was second with Bryan Warren, Shawn Fedder and Mike Lucas rounding out the top five. Stephanie Ivory and Fedder won the heats.

Dylan Fenton led the Semi Late feature the entire distance, with Scott Fenton in the Denny Fenton #55. Chad Desmond slapped the front stretch wall on lap four to slow the race. The top three were Dylan Fenton, Scott Fenton and Desmond. Scott Fenton won the heat.
