CURWENSVILLE – With the offense non-existent, the Curwensville Area High School baseball team dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Brockway on Tuesday afternoon.
The Golden Tide pitching duo of Jordan Russell and Ricky Magnuson did their collective best for the most part on the mound, limiting the Rovers to just three runs on three hits. However, the pair did issue 11 base on balls and one hit batsman.
In the past two games the Tide pitching staff has given up 21 walks.
Tide head coach Denny Johns spoke afterwards about his two hurlers, “The walks obviously had us in trouble all night. But overall Jordan (Russell) and Ricky (Magnuson) did an admirable job on the mound.”
Brockway would score single runs in the third, fourth and seventh innings to secure the victory. The Rovers, due to the numerous walks received, did strand 12 base runners.
The lone base hit for the Tide was from senior catcher Kyle Bloom.
Curwensville has scored just one run in the last three games, and Johns addressed his team’s offense, saying, “Obviously I am baffled about our lack of offense, because we got off to a great start our first three games offensively this year. So tomorrow (Wednesday) it’s back to basics at practice. We have scored just one run in the last 19 innings and you can’t win a baseball game with that kind of output.”
The Golden Tide are 1-5 on the 2013 campaign and will once again be on its home field Thursday, hosting Ridgway at 4:15 pm.
