SHINGLEHOUSE — Curwensville Area High School wrestlers won four of the seven contested matches and received four forfeits to defeat host Oswayo Valley 42-24 in the final regular season dual meet for both teams Thursday night.
Nate Wriglesworth (13-12) and Ricky Magnuson (8-5) posted falls and Tyler Mays (12-11) and Dakota Royer (9-16) earned decisions for the Golden Tide.
Forfeits were awarded to Sam Bressler (18-9) at 106 pounds, Jason Koptchak (9-13) at 113, Jake Lancaster (19-10) at 126 and Shawn Ebersole (2-9) at 138.
Wriglesworth bumped up to 182 and flattened Lee Brown in 59 seconds, the quickest of the meet’s five falls.
Magnuson moved up to 285 and pinned Tom Estes in 2:58.
Mays outscored Trenton James 12-8 at 120, and Royer bested Sean Kusnierz 6-3 at 160.
The Golden Tide was one victory away from a .500 season at 9-11.
“There were a couple of places along the line we could have gotten that win,” coach Duane Wriglesworth said. “We had some adversity, but you’ve gotta battle back from that, and our kids did.
“That Cameron County win (36-27) on Tuesday was a perfect example of how these kids fought back.
“It was good to finish the dual meet season on a win.
“Now, it’s time to get ready for districts.”
The Golden Tide will be competing in the District 9 Class AA Tournament next Friday and Saturday at Clarion University.
For Oswayo Valley (4-11), four of the five wrestlers with winning records produced points.
Zach Fitzsimmons (14-12) at 132, Sam Colebert (23-3) at 152 and Nate Rodgers (20-7) at 220 had falls, and Jake Wichert (26-1) at 195 received a forfeit.
There were no bouts at 145 and 170.
