The Last Word

Dustin: “Sad to see the end of Penn State’s season, but my last word for this week is giving a major call out to Bill O’Brien.  He couldn’t have stepped into a more difficult, more trying and more devastating situation than he did this year.  Expectations were all over the board, with even some experts saying that this team would be hard pressed to win three games this season.  Now, we’re at the final game of the year, and will finish above the .500 mark, win or lose.  This senior class is possibly the most special in the history of the school, top to bottom.  McGloin stepped up so big this season, Mauti has been a great leader, and every other graduating player has earned the respect of the entire country.  From one very proud alum, it gives me great pride to say this.  WE ARE…PENN STATE!!  WE STILL ARE…PENN STATE!!”

Dave: “Didn’t expect all the local HS teams to be done already – but college and the NFL still have a ton of great games to come! Notre Dame’s luck has to worsen eventually, and USC might be the best 7-4 team in history – but with Barkley out, I couldn’t pull the trigger on the upset. Most games this week could truly go either way – should be a great weekend of football!”

Chris: “It will be an emotional day at Beaver Stadium, but I still like Wisconsin to come in and hand the Nittany Lions their fifth loss of the season. Before the year, I said 6-6, so 7-5 is a pretty solid season. As for the Steelers, what can you say? They are down to Charlie Batch. I don’t know how well he will play, but they should be able to get by the Browns, even on the road. I like the addition of Plaxico Burress. He adds another deep threat for Big Ben once he’s healthy.”

Rusty: “I liked it better when I was way behind in this challenge – no pressure to be right or wrong.  But now that I’ve had a couple lucky weeks, I get anxious about the picks.  Last week’s games prove that anyone can win on any given day.  Oh well, here goes – PSU at home gets a win.  Notre Dame handles the pressure this week to stay on top.  I was the only one to pick UCLA last week and we’ll see if they can come through again.  I think the Steelers can limp out with the win against the Browns regardless of who is behind center – just wildcat the whole game.  And, even though the Eagles looked hopeless last week, I think there was enough positive to get back in the win column this week.  One thing is for sure this week – the turkey will be good!  Happy Thanksgiving everyone.”

Jay: “Just can’t pick against this PSU team in their final home game. Too many intangibles. Unfortunately, have to go with OSU and ND this week. Maybe by picking them, they’ll both lose? Steelers in a not so easy game. Saints and Pack are back! Eagles have to win again sometime – how about on MNF?”
