The Last Word

Dustin: “Local games have a lot more meaning with playoffs beginning. I see Clearfield making good on an undefeated season, especially with the home crowd on their side. I don’t feel the Tide will get past Brockway. Both should be good contests though.”

Rusty: “Clearfield should have an easy time with Punxsy, Bellwood has already dominated the Vikings this season, and we’ll see if my inside info pays off with the Tide. I know the big story is PSU is unbeaten on the road, but, if they were home, I’d pick them. It’s the same thinking for the Eagles – home team advantage. However, I didn’t use the home field scenario in Chicago as I think the Texans down the Bears – sorry Mr. President. The Steelers better not have any trouble at home with the Chiefs, but it’ll probably be a game they fail to put away.”

Chris: “I really like the way Clearfield is playing right now — just ambushing teams and not letting up for four quarters. This is quite a season for coach Tim Janocko and Co. As for Penn State, Lincoln is a tough place to play and this is one of the games I thought the Lions would lose in 2012, so I will stick by my original pick and take the Cornhuskers. The Steelers appear to have things on the right track, but this is very much a trap game. Fun fact: The Steelers have not lost a Monday night home game under Mike Tomlin.”

Dave: “The Bison won’t get tested this week OR next week…Punxsy is simply not very good, and Clearfield has hammered every mediocre team they’ve played this season. Having seen Curwensville’s pass defense, I don’t think they will keep Brockway under 35 points, which likely means a loss for the Tide. PSU will give Nebraska a good game, but I like the Huskers at home. K-State is due for a bad game, as are the Bears – they can’t score on defense EVERY week. I think the Eagles really ARE done this time, and if the Cowboys do win this week, watch out – their schedule is very easy the rest of the season. The Steelers have played to the level of their competition all season – time to break that habit and pound the Chiefs in primetime.”

Jay: “Clearfield pick is a no-brainer, while I struggled with picking against Curwensville. I think that the obliterating that Brockway received the past two weeks had to take some wind out of their sails, but they still may have enough to win at home this week. My official pick will be Brockway, but a Curwensville win really wouldn’t surprise me here. I think Bellwood’s a bit overrated, but they handled Glendale once already this year. Not picking against PSU anymore. Pitt will fall flat after their big loss last week – typical Pitt stuff. Picked all of the road teams in the NFL (except KC, of course), which means I’ll either go 3-0 or 0-3.”
