Clearfield Volleyball Team Sweeps Curwensville

CLEARFIELD — The Curwensville Lady Tide Tide volleyball team made the short trip down river to face the Lady Bison of Clearfield at the Arthur J. Weiss Gymnasium on Monday night.

The teams played an exciting 5-game match when they faced off earlier in the season, but Clearfield won by the scores of 25-16, 25-9, 25-20 to earn the sweep and up their record to 9-10 on the season, while Curwensville dropped to 5-10.

Lady TIde Head Coach Sandy Bailor summed it up this way, “Clearfield was ready to play tonight and we weren’t.  We couldn’t adjust our defense to pick up the balls dropping in the middle of the court and we couldn’t receive a serve so we could set up our offense, so we were on the defense all evening.  The first two games we were playing on our heels – not ready for what Clearfield was dealing us. The Patel girl killed us in the second game with her excellent serving.  In the third game I felt we came back and looked better, but we still weren’t able to set up any offense. The positive side of the match was that we were strong at the serving line.  We need to regroup in practice and get ready for our last two regular season matches.”

The Lady Tide will host rival Mo Valley on Wednesday October 24, a team that the Lady Tide beat earlier in the season. Clearfield’s next game will also be against a team that they beat earlier this year, when they host Tyrone Tuesday October 23.
