HUSTON TOWNSHIP – A 68-year-old Natrona Heights man, Willis H. Arner, was flown to the Altoona Regional Medical Center after his vehicle impacted a utility pole, curb and shrubbery and a front porch at 2:16 p.m. Oct. 16 along state Route 255 in Huston Township, according to the DuBois-based state police.
Arner was traveling northbound on SR 255 and crossed the centerline. He gradually exited the left-hand berm for unknown reasons and struck a utility pole, shearing it off in two places. This knocked down live, electrical lines onto the roadway.
The Arner vehicle continued traveling northbound, striking a curb and shrubbery and a front porch and corner post for its roof. This caused the porch roof to collapse. The Arner vehicle traveled approximately another 38 feet north, where it struck the front porch and came to a rest.
Arner was wearing his seatbelt and sustained unknown injuries. He might have suffered from a medical condition prior to the accident. He was flown to the Altoona Regional Medical Center via Stat MedEvac helicopter, state police said.
SR 255 was closed for more than 13 hours as a result of the accident.
