Thursday, July 4
Annual Reading of the Declaration of Independence
2 p.m. – Beach Area
Please attend the annual reading of our Declaration of Independence at the beach. Listen to the words that declare our freedoms, and the reasons why our forefathers chose to make such a decision.
Friday, July 5
First-ever Mountain Pie Cookoff
5 p.m. Registration; 7 p.m. Judging
Do you think you have what it takes to be the first Iron Pie Chef of Parker Dam. Come out and join us in a friendly competition to see who will be named the top chef.
Those that wish to compete can compete in one of two categories, Dinner or Desert. The Friends of Parker Dam will be the judges for the competition.
Registration and rules will be at 5 p.m. and judging will begin at 7 p.m. in the Campground Amphitheater. Anyone is welcome to join in on the competition as we will have fires going at the amphitheater for those that are not staying at the park.
Saturday, July 6
New Moon—Means What?
10 a.m. —EE Classroom
Tonight is a “new moon”. Learn the celestial dynamics of how this happens at this program. Moon phases, eclipses and so on will also be explained.
PA Natural Symbols Hike
5 p.m.—Souders Trail
Join the Park Naturalist for a hike along Souders Trail. While on the trail we will explore the nature around us and those things are our state natural symbols.
Firefly Watch
9:15 p.m.—Pavilion 6
Bring a chair and join us for a display of nature’s fireworks as we learn about Pennsylvania’s state insect. Learn how to call fireflies, why they flash, and what may be threatening their survival.
Sunday, July 7
Tea & Talk
7 p.m. – Beach House Steps
Bring your own cup to sample some sweet fern/mountain mint tea grown right here in the park. Talk is, as always, whatever you want to talk about concerning the park. Come prepared with a topic or three.
