The Last Word

Rusty: “Not a good week to make a move back into the running – too many close games…Clearfield and Curwensville should walk through their games…I think Mo Valley is the better team in their match-up, but Glendale-West Branch may be the best local battle this week…Penn State may have won, but I have to go with Temple, sorry…The rest of the games on the list should be awesome and could go either way – especially the way the NFL has started…Pittsburgh looks like a winner, but the Raiders are a scary, desperate 0-2 team…The rest of them should be just fun, and I think are all late games on Sunday – can’t wait.”

Dustin: “Usually I’d talk about PSU and how they need to get a win before the Big Ten part of their schedule, but honestly this week the one game I’m looking forward to more than that one is actually Michigan-Notre Dame. That game last season went right down to the wire, and as a good luck charm I actually bought the “Night Game” jersey for my best friend and gave it to her the day before the game to wear. Sure enough, they won. This year though, Notre Dame is rolling, especially after owning Michigan State, at Spartan Stadium no less. If the Irish win this weekend, I think we all will be talking about a possible BCS bowl berth down the road. But, and trust me, saying this as a Penn State alum is painful, I’m gonna say…GO BLUE!!”

Chris:  “Penn State should make it two in a row this week, but Temple is no pushover. The Nittany Lions will have to play much better to get out of non-conference play at 2-2. As for the Steelers, they looked like a different team in Week 2, but traveling across the country is never easy. Put the Lions and the Steelers on upset alert, though I suspect both teams win again.”

Jay: “Clearfield will have an easy game – no chance of a letdown after the big home win last week. Since Jburg beat Coudy last week, no chance of a Cville letdown either. PSU really needed that win last week and should pick up another before the Big Ten kicks in. Maybe ND’s back? The Cards win last week has to be a fluke, right? Eagles by 1 again. I think the Pats would have wanted an easier game to bounce back with…”

Dave:  “Local game of the week is West Branch vs. Glendale – both teams have shown some promise early on, I think the team that commits the fewest turnovers should prevail. Notre Dame appears to be back – they will move the ball against the Wolverines, but can they handle Denard Robinson? I say yes. Steelers face something of a trap game – a long road trip after a big win- and with a bye up next, the Steelers must guard against a letdown. I was on the Falcons last week, but I’m on the Chargers this week – Falcons also have a long road trip and a short week to prepare, and unlike Pittsburgh they are facing a good team.”
