PUNXSUTAWNEY — The Lady Tide dropped to 1-2 for the year after dropping a 4-set match to the Punxsutawney Lady Chucks on Thursday.
Curwensville lost a tight first game 21-25, the won the second game 25-22 to even the match. After that it was all Punxsy to close it out – 14-25 and 15-25.
Lady Tide Head Coach Sandy Bailor wasn’t too disappointed with the loss to the much larger school, “I was very pleased with the way we played tonight against a good Punxy team. We came away with a 4-set loss, but I felt the girls played very hard and learned alot about teamwork. Our first two games we were right in there with long volleys and alot of hustle. The game three and four scores really don’t indicate the play of the girls – they hustled and we had some very long volleys, but came up short with the points. If we continue to play like we did tonight and keep improving every time we get on the court good things will happen.”
The junior varsity team improved to 3-0 on the year by winning a 3-set match 11-25, 25-18, 16-14.
