SENECA FALLS, NY – Allie Polohonki has been selected as a recipient of the Goulds Professional Dealers Association (GPDA) Scholarship presented by Xylem. The $1,000 scholarship was awarded to 14 high school graduates from across the U.S. and Canada.

All 14 recipients of the scholarship are children of Goulds Professional Dealers Association members. The GPDA is the industry’s oldest and largest association and is comprised of more than 7,000 independent water systems professionals who sell and service Goulds Water Technology products.

She is the daughter of Robin Polohonki, Forsyth Drilling Inc., DuBois. She attended Brockway Area High School, where she was on the honor roll for four years. In 2008 and 2009, she won the State Fish Art Contest. She has also participated in the German American Partnership/Exchange Program in 2011-2012.

“I am excited to be selected as a recipient of this scholarship and thankful for the help it will provide, as I pursue my educational goals,” said Polohonki.

“We are proud of the 14 young people chosen as recipients this year. I hope they will follow in the footsteps of previous GPDA scholarship winners who have gone on to promising careers. We are proud to assist them in helping them pursue their dreams,” said Gerald Abbott, manager sales communications and programs, Xylem.

Education is essential to the future of the water systems industry, and in the years since the GPDA scholarship program was formed, nearly 150 high school seniors have been awarded scholarships based on academic achievement, community service and leadership. In addition, Xylem has created the Future Professional Dealers of America, a program of GPDA, where young people aspiring to follow in their parents’ footsteps receive technical information, training and support to further their studies.

“We started the GPDA Scholarship Program to assist students achieve their professional goals and as a way to strengthen the future of our industry,” said Abbott.
