Bald Eagle Area Wins State Teener 15-16 Title

LEBANON – Bald Eagle Area rode the no-hit pitching of Nate Cleaver to a 6-0 victory over Lebanon City/County in the 2012 Pennsylvania VFW Teener 15-16 State Tournament championship game at Coleman Park Monday afternoon.

Cleaver, who struck out six and walked three, needed only 79 pitches to blank the host team, which had avenged a 4-3 winner’s bracket semifinal loss to Altoona with a 4-1 win in the morning.

Two-run doubles by Ryan Dyke and Bryan Greene in the first two innings were more than enough for Cleaver as Bald Eagle Area completed a four-game sweep in the 63rd annual state tourney after losing in the finals the last two years.

The champs also rolled through the Area V Tournament undefeated and were 11-0 overall.

Area VI champion Wise Eyes of Clearfield bowed out at 1-2, losing 6-4 to Bald Eagle Area in the first round and 7-1 to Lebanon City/County in the elimination bracket quarterfinals.
