Two Injured after Motorist Crashes into Unoccupied Residence

PHILIPSBURG – Moderate to minor injuries were reported following a single-vehicle accident during which a motorist struck an unoccupied residence at 3 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of South Front and East Maple streets in Philipsburg Borough.

Corey A. Hartman, 18, of Philipsburg was traveling on South Front Street and attempting to negotiate a right-hand turn onto East Maple Street. Hartman was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control of his vehicle.

His vehicle exited the roadway and struck an unoccupied residence on East Maple Street, causing severe damage.

Hartman and his passenger, Alicia M. McDiffitt, 18, of Philipsburg were transported to the Clearfield Hospital for medical treatment. Hartman’s injuries were listed as moderate. He wasn’t wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. McDiffitt sustained minor injuries. Both were treated and released.

East Maple Street was closed for approximately 45 minutes as a result of the accident. State police were assisted at the scene by the Hope Volunteer Fire Company.

Several traffic citations will be filed against Hartman.
