DUBOIS – Three pitchers collaborated on a two-hitter as DuBois handed the Clearfield American Legion baseball team a 6-0 Central Penn League setback at Showers Field Wednesday evening.
Devon Walker picked up the win with two hitless innings in relief of starter Nate Liddle, who allowed only a single by Wyatt Westen and a walk in three frames. They had two strikeouts apiece.
Josh Hayes came on to mop up in the last two innings, picking off two runners at first base after surrendering a single by Derek Danver and a walk. He struck out one Chief.
Westen took the loss in his first start for manager Sid Lansberry’s Post 6 team, now 1-2.
DuBois got to him for five runs in the third inning on three walks and four hits, including a two-run single by Garrett Brown that capped the outburst.
Thomas Summers put out the fire and then limited the winners to one run over the next three innings. He struck out two.
Nate Bontempo and John Georgino had two hits apiece for DuBois. Bontempo, who doubled, also scored two runs.
Clearfield will host Fox Township in a non-league Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Clearfield Area High School junior varsity diamond.
