The neighboring property is currently owned by Lon Lord and located at 214 East Locust Street, Clearfield. Solicitor Kim Kesner approached Lord about his willingness to sell the building and its land to the county for $135,000.
Kesner said Lord verbally communicated an interest in selling the building and its land to the county. However, he said the commissioners weren’t taking any action because of “competing concerns” that were discussed in the executive session.
According to Kesner, he’s only verbally explored and negotiated the building and land purchase with Lord. He said the commissioners haven’t presented Lord with a binding sales agreement.
Commissioner Joan Robinson-McMillen said the county has many options if it would purchase the building and land. She said “taking down” and “rehabbing” the building and its land were among the possibilities but only the vision of one commissioner.
“It’s all purely hypothetical at this point,” said Kesner.
