Community Helps to Improve Fishery at Curwensville Lake

CURWENSVILLE – On Saturday, volunteers worked together to help improve the fish habitat at Curwensville Lake and Recreation Area.

About 20-plus people took part, building fish habitat structure with donated materials. The porcupine cribs were then taken out in boats and dropped in the lake at predetermined areas. The project was slated to run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. However, those in attendance built and placed the 50 porcupine cribs by 11 a.m.

The project would not have been possible without the help of the volunteers, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, Wal-Mart Distribution Center volunteers, donated materials, including block from Swisher Concrete, and Stacy Bressler, who donated equipment and time. Lunch was provided by GenOn.
