The Philipsburg-based state police identified the driver of the vehicle as Brent A. Gibboney, 24, of Bellefonte. He was transported to the Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment. He was wearing a motorcycle helmet at the time of the accident.
According to the report, Gibboney lost control of his motorcycle when he attempted to negotiate a left-hand curve in the roadway. Its rear slid to the right, traveling approximately 100 feet east, where it struck a guiderail on the south side of the roadway. Then, his motorcycle traveled approximately six feet from the point of impact along the guiderail.
Gibboney was thrown from the motorcycle after its impact with the guiderail. He came to a final rest on the opposite side of the impact area of the guiderail. Gibboney will be cited for driving too fast for conditions.
