MARTINSBURG – Six players had multi-hit performances as Central made the long trip for the Clearfield Area High School softball team a long afternoon by defeating the Lady Bisons 9-3 in Mountain League Allegheny Division action Monday afternoon.
Clearfield (1-4, 1-1 ML-Allegheny) got to winner Kylie Gunnett for nine hits but kept off the scoreboard after posting a first-inning run until pushing across two more tallies in the seventh.
Rachel Hoffman banged out two singles and drove in a run for the Lady Bisons.
Heather Picard singled twice and Lucy Kovalick doubled.
Central (5-2) was paced by Ashley Smith with a home run and two singles.
Taylor Garman, who homered, Marissa Snyder and Katie Blattenberger each had two safeties for the Lady Dragons, who broke up a 1-1 game with three runs in the fourth inning.
Gunnett had three RBIs while Garman had two.
Gunnett struck out 10 and walked two.
Picard fanned eight and walked none for Clearfield.
The Lady Bisons will be at home for visits by Tyrone Wednesday and Philipsburg-Osceola in ML-Allegheny Division action.
