PUNXSUTAWNEY– At the beginning of the season, the Clearfield Lady Bisons opened their home portion of the 2011-2012 campaign against the Lady Chucks of Punxsutawney. In that game, Clearfield got its first win of the season in a double-overtime thriller 60-55 inside the Arthur J. Weiss Gynmasium.
The win also began a winning streak of four consecutive games that lasted through the holiday season.
Friday night, Clearfield made the trip to Punxsy for the second game of the series in hopes of picking up win number five on the year.
But the Lady Chucks had other ideas. The game was nearly a mirror image of their first encounter, high-scoring and fast paced. Unlike the first encounter, this game was all about the Lady Chucks, as they defeated their visiting opponents by a final of 68-55.
Clearfield led after the first period 17-12, but then the Lady Chucks got things rolling in the second eight minutes of play. Punxsutawney was led in scoring by Taylor Newcome, who put up a game-high 36 points in the contest.
The Lady Bisons (4-3) return home for back-to-back games at the beginning of the week as they will host Brookville on Monday, and then Philipsburg-Osceola on Tuesday.
