The Last Word
Jay: “Picked a couple of road upsets in the NFL – Texans and Giants, but other than that pretty status quo. With Vick coming back Eagles may actually show up for the game, but tough to pick them. Bring on the playoffs and the bowl games already!”
Dave: “I LOVE the Army-Navy game, one of the few TRULY amateur football games left in Division I – it’s never about records, or bowls, or NFL prospects in this game, it’s about pride, teamwork, and tradition. Navy has had Army’s number lately, winning 9 in a row and 11 of the last 12. These games used to be close most years, but all of Navy’s wins since 2002 have been by 12 points or more. Neither team is very good, but Army’s defense is especially bad – I expect a 10-point Navy win. The NFL slate is pretty poor this week, the Giants-Cowboys game is easily the best of the bunch.”
Dustin: “Short week for the black and gold, but back-to-back weeks against the state of Ohio should mean back-to-back victories. Dolphins are looking a lot better than the beginning of the year (which makes my mom extremely happy). Besides the Saints and Texans, I’m deciding to play home-field advantage this week, which honestly looking at the games this week, it’s hard to bet against the team with the crowd on their side.”
Rusty: “Well, it’s not quite championship weekend, but I guess some of these games might be interesting to watch. I don’t expect the Thursday night game to be an interesting one, however, unless the Steelers play down again. The return of Michael Vick may be enough to spark the floundering Eagles, but he’s not quite healed yet, and the Dolphins are hot. I never was much of a college Tebow fan, but you have to respect his drive – they will falter at some point, but not this week at home. Home field advantage also helps the Packers – like they need help – Lions, Cowboys and Seahawks.”
Chris: “Steelers are beginning to peak at the right time. If they can just keep winning, a Baltimore loss would do wonders for them. Although it’s a short week, I still like them to beat the Browns easily on Thursday night. In the other games, I’ve officially become a believer in Tim Tebow. All he does is win.”
