The Last Word

Jay: “The Clearfield pick is a no-brainer, but the three D6 playoff games are all toss-ups in my opinion. Going with ‘bama in the big game in college for no particular reason other than I think they have a better coach. Looking for Steelers to get a little payback, while the Bears and Giants just aren’t good enough to run with the big boys every week.”

Dustin: “Defeating the Patriots was huge for the Steelers last Sunday.  Not only did they defeat them, but also dominated the game in every aspect.  That is huge, despite having more injuries on the defense.  From what I’m reading, Woodley could be able to go on Sunday, which will be major considering Harrison is probably still out.  More importantly, the motivation from that week 1 embarrassment from Baltimore is a huge motivator.  I’m expecting to see Pittsburgh in the throwback uniforms, the same ones they usually wear against them when it’s a Sunday night game in Heinz Field.  For that reason, I’m expecting to see one loud crowd, one motivated defense, and a victory for the black and gold.”

Dave: “Glendale, Mo Valley, and West Branch all have games that should be extremely close. I expect Glendale to have the easiest game against No. Cambria, and CK will have just enough to sneak by Mo Valley. Before last week I’d never have picked West Branch on the road in a playoff game, but their huge win last week made me a believer this week…next week against Bellwood will be a different story. LSU-Alabama is a huge game, and as much as I like the Tide ‘D’, I think LSU is the more complete team this season. Finally, Pitt lost their best player, they are 4-4, and playing against the top team in the conference – I see no reason to believe they will win this game.”

Rusty: “Ouch, I tried a Jay move last week and went for some iffy picks to try to catch up – It worked for me like it did for Jay the week before, and I buried myself further in the standings.  So what have I got to lose from here on?  The District VI games are going to be tough this week, but I have confidence that the local guys will prevail – their opponents have had some shaky contests and look vulnerable.  Clearfield has another easy week ahead of them to tune up for playoffs.  The college games should be terrific this week.  Call me crazy, but, Cincinnati hasn’t been tested yet, and I see Pitt winning that game – ugh.  I had no faith in the Steelers last week, and they played their best game of the year.  They should avenge the Week One loss, but we’ll see how that goes.”

Chris: “I’m picking some wild upsets in an attempt to get back into this thing. As for the Steelers, I just can’t figure them out. Will we see the team that looked so good last week or will we see the team that was an absolute mess in Week One? The Eagles are another Jekyll and Hyde team, so that game is a coin flip. I expect the Patriots to bounce back from last week’s upset.”
