Clearfield JV Football Team Beaten by Mifflin County

LEWISTOWN — The Cleafield Bison junior varsity football team headed to Lewistown to face the Mifflin County Huskies on Monday night looking to even their record at 2-2.

Unfortunately for the Bisons, the Huskies had other ideas and defeated the visitors from Clearfield 26-16.

Despite a scoreless opening quarter and an 8-6 deficit at halftime, the Huskies were able to put 20 points on the board in the second half to pick up the win.

Clearfield opened up the scoring in the game with quarterback Tyler Woomer hitting Shawn Lord with a 14-yard touchdown. The duo clicked again on the 2-point conversion for an 8-0 Bison lead.

Mifflin County bounced back with a long pass of 34 yards to pull within two at the intermission.

The second half was pretty much all Mifflin County as they put up 20 more points to extend their lead to 26-8.

The only Bison scoring after halftime was provided by a Corey Stiver 3-yard return of a fumble recovery and a 2-point conversion between Woomer and Seth Beardsley.

The leading receiver for the Bisons for the game was Lord who hauled in four passes for a whopping 138 yards. The leading rusher was Woomer with 35 yards on five totes.

Clearfield (1-3) will host Central Mountain next Monday at 6:00 p.m.
