SPRING MILLS — After a tough loss at BEA last week, the Clearfield High School Junior Varsity football team bounced back with a victory at Penns Valley Monday night 26-14. The win was the first of the year for the Bisons against two losses.
Clearfield jumped on the home team early and built a 14-0 lead after part way through the second quarter after Tyler Woomer had hit Shawn Lord with an 8-yard touchdown pass, Rico Longoria ran for a 1-yard touchdown, and Spencer Herrington nailed both extra points.
Penns Valley scored on a 23-yard touchdown pass to set the halftime score at 14-7.
Clearfield extended their lead when Woomer hit Lord with another TD pass, this one covering 11 yards. The host Rams were not going to lay down as they closed the gap to 20-14 heading into the 4th quarter.
The Bisons put the only points on the board in the final frame via a 6-yard run by Mike Trude to avoid the disappointment of the previous week and earn the win.
Clearfield will travel to Mifflin County next Monday looking to even their record at 2-2 for the season.
