The Last Word

Dave: “Clearfield should cruise in their home opener, and if Curwensville plays like they did on Monday against Sheffield they should be able to overcome the Gators’ aerial attack. Pitt has looked as underwhelming as Penn State thus far, and with Iowa coming off of a shocking loss Pitt will be hard-pressed to match the Hawkeyes’ intensity. If the Steelers win by less than 7 it’s time to worry, and I like the Falcons at home in a very good, close game.”

Jay: “Curwensville beat Port twice last year, but I think the third time MAY be the charm for Port. Add in the long Saturday trip and the top passer in D9 – the odds are stacked slightly in Port’s favor. How about West Branch – 3-0? PSU MAY finally fall to Temple, but I surely couldn’t make that pick. Vick’s old team will want him BAD, especially after they stunk up Chicago last week.”

Dustin: “Most intriguing games this week are Rams-Bisons, Buckeyes-Hurricanes and Eagles-Falcons.  Here’s the reasoning:  1-The Bisons are at home for the first of only four games this year, and are still looking for their identity.  They may have a harder task ahead than many may expect.  2-Controversy is rampant for OSU and Miami, so it’s appropriate that both schools are meeting up.  And 3-Michael Vick returns to the Georgia Dome to face his old team.  Seeing him go against Matt Ryan will be a lot of fun to watch.”

Chris:  “It’s hard to imagine Penn State and/or the Steelers looking any worse than they did last week, so let’s look for both teams to bounce back. Since JoePa has yet to name a starting QB, we are putting PSU on upset alert.”

Rusty: “In Port Allegany on Saturday, we should see two good offenses – one passing, one running – that will put the pressure on the defenses to make the difference.  The possible wet weather gives the edge to the runners.  OK Warriors, I’m believing, keep up the good work.  I would hope JoePa is ready to see that he needs to give the team to a definite QB to lead the team – it seemed obvious to me that Bolden should be the guy.  We’ll see.  I have to admit that I underestimated the Ravens last week, but that was embarrassing.  If the Seahawks give the Steelers a game it could be a long season.”
