Clearfield JV Football Team’s Comeback Falls Short

WINGATE – The Clearfield Junior Varsity football team lost a see-saw battle to host Bald Eagle Area 26-24 on Monday afternoon.

The Bisons were up 10-0 at the end of the first quarter after Spencer Herrington kicked  a 25-yard field goal and Mike Trude scored on a 2-yard touchdown run.

BEA stormed back in the second quarter by scoring three touchdowns to take a 20-10 halftime lead.

The momentum swung back in Clearfield’s favor in the second half, as the Bison underclassmen took a 24-20 lead part way through the fourth quarter after quarterback Tyler Woomer scampered in from 14 yards out. Woomer had hit Shawn Lord with a 37-yard touchdown pass back in the third quarter to draw the Bisons near.

BEA, however, would have the final say as they scored the final points of the game to outlast the Bisons 26-24.

Clearfield (0-2) will look for their first win of the young season when they travel to Spring Mills next Monday to face the Penns Valley Rams.
