CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced that charges have been filed against a DuBois man.
Shaw identified the defendant as Raymond Mikelonis, Sr., age 55, of East Weber Avenue, DuBois.
On Sept. 1, 2011, Officer Steve Maholtz of the DuBois City Police Department filed a criminal complaint charging Mikelonis with sexual abuse of children- possession of child pornography, F3, 47 counts.
An affidavit of probable cause filed by Maholtz states that on Sept. 1, Mikelonis’s home was searched by state law enforcement personnel. Upon completion of the search of the residence, three DVD/CDs were recovered from underneath a mattress. The DVD/CDs were transported to the DuBois City Police Department for inspection. Maholtz was able to view one of the DVD which contained 47 videos that depicted children performing sexual acts.
Mikelonis, was arraigned on the charges and bail set at $50,000.00. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 9.
Shaw stated that he was pleased with the efforts and quick response of the DuBois City Police Department to make an arrest in this matter. Shaw also noted that complaints of this nature are extremely troubling and every effort must be made to investigate and prosecute those who possess child pornography.
