THREE NEW WINNERS FIND DOG HOLLOW VICTORY LANE

STRONGSTOWN, PA – The Frank Maya Memorial produced four new winners at Dog Hollow Speedway on Friday night, as the speedway beat the weather for a change.

Steve Everhart of Canoe Creek topped the Townsend Gas and Oil Super Late Models, Ray Hickok of Commodore picked up the win in the Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic Street Stocks, Marshal Detwiler of Roaring Spring came out on top in a photo finish in the Brush Valley Tire Pure Stocks and Martin Vinosky of Acosta topped the Modified Four Cylinders.

Repeat winners included: Andrew Satterlee of Rochester Mills in the Stoystown Auto Wreckers Fastrak Late Models aand Wild Bill Hassenplug of Gallitzin in the Four Cylinder Sidewinders.

Dan Lee and Steve Everhart brought the 20 car Super Late Model field to the start with Everhart taking the lead. Third place starter Dane Laraway was following Everhart and Jack Pencil was running in third place. As the race was continuing Devin Friese worked his way to second from his seventh place start, with Laraway still third and Pencil hanging on to fourth.

The first caution waved on lap 18 for Laraway who drifted to a halt entering the third turn and ending his good run. This put Pencil in third and regrouped the field to get another shot at Everhart. As the race resumed Friese challenged Everhart but Everhart wasn’t about to be denied as he took his first win of the season. Friese, Pencil, Kenny Shaltenbrand and Mike Blose completed to top five. Heat wins went to Clate Copeman and Laraway.

Mike Laughard beat Jeremy Zufall off the line to lead the opening laps of the Fastrak Late Model feature, but on lap three Andrew Satterlee came from his fourth place start to take the lead. Once he was out front the battle turned to second, with Tommy Snyder getting past Laughard for second on lap 10, then a few laps later Laughard exited turn four too high and clipped the front stretch wall, ending his night. As Laughard pitted Ken Herman too second and continued to try and reel in Satterlee but he ran out time. At the line it was Satterlee over Herman, Snyder, Transten Stoner from 21st and Tim Snare who had to tail the field after a lap one caution. Heat were won by Snare, Joe Martin and Satterlee.

The Street Stocks saw Corey Neal and Ray Hickok lead the field to the start with Neal leading the first lap before Nick Goss looped the #80 and had to tail the field. Hickok took the lead from Neal on lap two and as Hickok led, Goss was making a charge to the front, with Neal still in second Goss had worked his way to fourth by the eighth lap, he would only advance one more spot to third before Kevin Smyers waved the checkered flag. The top five at the end were: Hickok, Neal, Goss, Mike Desch and David Rocker. Heat wins went to Desch and Hickok.

The Pure Stock feature was a barn burner from the start, as Adam Pletcher and Jim Hamilton led the field to the start with Pletcher leading at the end of lap one. He set the ace for five laps, with Marshal Detwiler in second and putting pressure on the leader. As Pletcher went high in turns three and four Detwiler went low, as Pletcher spun in turn four to bring out the caution. This gave Detwiler the lead, and he set the pace for the next four laps, before Matt Krause and Justin Queen got into the mix. Krause took the lead on lap 13, but a lap later he went high in turn two, this allowed Detwiler to get the lead back, as Queen was now on the inside, as he led the field off turn four on the white flag. Queen was on the outside as Detwiler was on the inside as they exited the final turn they were in a near dead heat, as Detwiler edged Queen at the line by only inches. The final top five were: Detwiler, Queen, Krause, Rich Powell and Hamilton. Heat wins were divided by Detwiler and Powell.

The Four Cylinder Sidewinders were wild and wooly the entire distance, as Sean Fitzpatrick led the way first, but four wide racing often spells disaster for some as Fitzpatrick, Chris Yoder, John Hayes and Mark Rematt Jr. were racing four wide, Hayes was on the outside but he was tet his oo far out, as he slammed into the wall off turn four and flipped the 5H upside down. Hayes exited the car on his own but wasn’t hurt. On the restart Yoder was in the lead with Wild Bill Hassenplug in second and Rematt in third. Yoder lost the lead to Hassenplug on lap eight as Hassenplug went on to his fourth win of the season. Yoder, Rematt, Tim Thomas and Andrew Pluta rounded out the top five. In a post race tech, Thomas and Pluta refused tech and were automatically disqualified. This put Dan Jackson and Fitzpatrick in fourth and fifth. Heat wins went to Jack Theys, Rematt and Ray Edwards.

Mark Maglet led the first lap of the Modified Four Cylinders with Martin Vinosky taking the lead on lap two and never relinquishing it. At the finish it was all Vinosky over Bob Pease, Maglet, Casey Fleegle and Paul Little. Maglet won the heat.
