CLEARFIELD – The topic of recycling was one of the main discussion point at the Lawrence Township Supersvisors meeting on Tuesday.
Hyde Fire Department Chief Zach Lawhead opened the discussion. He stated that contrary to a prior report, his department does pick up recyclables. He stated that one of the problems is that no one is putting the items out for pick up. He indicated that the money brought in was helpful to the fire department, and asked the supervisors for guidance.
The supervisors stated that theyhired two people to pick up recyclables. Supervisor Glenn Johnston indicated they were unaware that the fire department was still picking items up. Supervisor Ed Brown said they wanted to see how the two new employees worked out. The other supervisors agreed.
Later in the meeting Secretary/Treasurer Barbara Shaffner said she was looking at prices for recycling bins. She stated taht she found one company that had three sizes. The supervisors gave her permission to purchase 300 recycling bins at the lowest cost, provided she get at least three quotes.
