Charges are currently pending following an alcohol-related accident at approximately 12:01 a.m. Friday along Dale Road near Phoenix Road in Rush Township. A 49-year-old Sandy Ridge man was traveling eastbound when his vehicle drifted off the roadway and struck a concrete bridge barrier.
His vehicle continued to travel eastbound along the berm and nearly impacted two parked vehicles in a driveway. The vehicle’s right front tire subsequently blew out because of the impact with the concrete bridge barrier.
The man’s vehicle traveled approximately three-tenths of a mile on the rim before pulling off the roadway onto the berm. State police responded to the scene and observed a gouge mark on the roadway, which led them to the vehicle’s location.
State police found the man asleep behind the wheel of the vehicle. Further investigation revealed that he was under the influence of alcohol, and he was taken into custody for DUI. He was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center for blood testing.
