CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Little League 9-and-10 All-Stars were eliminated from the District 5 Northern Tier Tournament Monday evening when Four-Leaf Clover rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull out a 15-14 win at Kurtz Field.
Clearfield, which was edged 6-5 by Tri-County Saturday, had leads of 5-0, 11-9, 13-11 and 14-12 but stranded 12 runners in the see-saw contest that had 28 hits, 16 walks and one hit batsman.
In the sixth, Cade Walker and Ayden Gutierrez singled in the two runs that tied the score for the fourth time. The winning run scored on an error.
Noah Bloom had three of Clearfield’s 12 hits off four Four-Leaf Clover pitchers, while Jude Pallo, Nathan Barr and Jeremy Learish had two apiece.
Ty Bender paced Four-Leaf Clover’s 16-hit attack with a solo home run and three singles. Justin Fernberg and Alan Myers each had three hits, and Walker added a pair.
Four-Leaf Clover (1-1) will host Milesburg Tuesday in the elimination bracket semifinal.
